Best Photoshoot Locations in Grants Pass, Oregon

I have been a photographer in Southern Oregon since 2017 so it’s been almost 10 years since I started shooting and I figured it was about time I put together a list of some of my favorite engagement session locations in Grants Pass (and the surrounding areas). So below, in no particular order you’ll find some fantastic Josephine County Photo locations and any pertinent information regarding them! Enjoy.

1. Limpy Creek Trail, Grants Pass, Oregon (Limpy Botanical Interpretive Loop Trailhead)

Fairly simple to find using GPS type in “Limpy Botanical Loop”. About 25 minutes from the city center. It does have a vault toilet. Vast diversity in backdrops including: Wildflowers in the spring, small mini waterfalls and thick forest with ferns, and open air mountain tops with pines in the background. NOTE: Due to this being BLM land THERE ARE FREQUENTLY PEOPLE FIRING GUNS HERE FOR RECREATIONAL USE. Something to note in case that makes anyone uncomfy.

2. Waters Creek Road, Grants Pass, Oregon

There is a trail head on this road but you can also drive further up into the mountains and explore BLM land. About 25 minutes from the city center. NOTE: Due to this being BLM land THERE ARE FREQUENTLY PEOPLE FIRING GUNS HERE FOR RECREATIONAL USE. Something to note in case that makes anyone uncomfy.

3. Whitehorse County Park, Grants Pass, Oregon

A gorgeous park right on the Rogue River in Grants Pass, Oregon. Just about 10 minutes outside the city center.

4. Tom Pearce County Park, Grants Pass, Oregon

Another beautiful park right on the Rogue River in Grants Pass, Oregon. Does not have as much river access as Whitehorse Park. Just about 10 minutes outside the city center. $5 Parking Fee OR the Josephine County Parks Pass Annual Pass

5. Spencer Creek Road, Grants Pass, Oregon

More BLM Land near Grants Pass. Off Road Vehicles Recommended and adventure at your own risk! NOTE: Due to this being BLM land THERE ARE FREQUENTLY PEOPLE FIRING GUNS HERE FOR RECREATIONAL USE. Something to note in case that makes anyone uncomfy.

6. Fish Hatchery Park, Grants Pass, Oregon

Again, another stunning county park, this time alongside the Applegate River. Lots of beautiful views and nature and lower crowds towards sunset time of day off peak season. If you’re going in the heart of the summer you may have some crowding as it’s a swimming hole. $5 parking fee OR use your annual county parks pass for JOCO.

7. All Sports Park / Reinhart Volunteer Park, Grants Pass, Oregon

Beautiful City Park along the Rogue River. 5 minutes from the heart of Grants Pass. A few different spots that get gorgeous lighting as the sun is setting. The Maternity photos below are of me and my family and photo credit goes to Emily Prosise Photography. The other image is one I took.

8. Historic Downtown & Historic Redwoods Hotel Building, Grants Pass, Oregon

Explore Grants Pass charming and historic downtown for your photoshoot! So many different aesthetic backdrops and different vibes you could get!

9. The Loft Studio on H Street, Grants Pass, Oregon

In need of a location for the chilly winter months? You can rent the indoor studio at the Loft for $50 for one hour. Find more info here: https://www.theloftgp.com/ Photos below are of my family again taken by the wonderful Sarah Ruth Photo Art. (Note the pink backdrop was something specific Sarah Set up, typically the studio has a white wall available.)

10. HONORABLE MENTION: Pacifica - A Garden in the Siskiyous, Williams, Oregon

Pacifica is a stunning large non-profit nature area in Williams, Oregon. It is receiving an honorable mention since it’s only about 25 minutes from the Grants Pass City Center and is still in Josephine County. Pacifica has it all: Trees, Pines, Fields, Horses, Water, etc. So many different beautiful backdrops. They recommend a donation to park and utilize the grounds. Be sure to check the event calendar to make sure your photoshoot won’t be interfering with a private event.

11. HONORABLE MENTION: Eight Dollar Botanical Wayside, Selma, Oregon

While still in Josephine County, this location is not in Grants Pass, so I’m putting it on here as an “honorable mention”. Eight Dollar Mountain Botanical Wayside is a unique location about 35 minutes from Grants Pass in Selma, Oregon. You will have to go off trail to get pictures in the locations shown in these images so if you aren’t comfortable with that then you’ll want to avoid this spot.
